Cookbook Visibility

Learn how to control who can access and discover your cookbooks.

Private Cookbooks

By default, all cookbooks are private. Only the cookbook creator can access a private cookbook unless they invite others to join.

There are two ways to invite people to a cookbook:

  • Generate an invite link
  • Send an email invitation through RecipeBranch

When sending invitations, you can assign different roles: Member, Contributor, or Admin. See Cookbook Roles for more details.

Note that inviting someone doesn't automatically add them to your cookbook—they must first accept the invitation. They can also decline it.

Public Cookbooks

Making a cookbook public allows anyone with the link to view and join it. However, public cookbooks are not discoverable through the app's explore pages or search features.

Discoverable Cookbooks

Currently, public cookbooks only become discoverable (appearing on pages like "Explore Cookbooks") when our team manually flags them as discoverable. This temporary process helps us maintain quality standards as we build our brand.

We're working on an automated approval process that will allow anyone to publish discoverable cookbooks if they meet our standards. In the meantime, if you'd like us to consider making your public cookbook discoverable, email us at [email protected] with a link to your cookbook and we'll review it!
