Installing RecipeBranch as an app on your desktop computer does not have as many benefits as installing it on a mobile device. It essentially just gives you a dedicated window without browser UI. The installation process varies by browser and operating system.
Installation with Chrome or Edge
- Open Chrome or Microsoft Edge on your computer
- Navigate to recipebranch.com (or stay on this page if you're already here)
- Look for the Install button in the address bar (it looks like a computer monitor with a down arrow)
- Click the Install button
- Confirm the installation by clicking "Install" in the popup dialog
Alternative method: You can also click the three dots menu in Chrome/Edge and select "Install RecipeBranch..." if the install button doesn't appear in the address bar.
Installation with Safari (Mac)
- Open Safari on your Mac
- Navigate to recipebranch.com
- Click File in the menu bar
- Select "Add to Dock"
- Customize the name if desired and click "Add"
macOS Big Sur or later: The "Add to Dock" feature requires macOS Big Sur (11.0) or later.
After Installation
Once installed, RecipeBranch will appear as a standalone app that you can launch from:
- Windows: Start menu, taskbar, or desktop
- Mac: Applications folder, Dock, or Launchpad
- Linux: Application launcher or desktop
The installed app provides:
- A dedicated window without browser UI
- Faster loading and better performance
- System integration (taskbar, notifications)
Browser Requirements
Fully Supported: Chrome 73+, Edge 79+, Safari 14+ on macOS Big Sur+
Removing the App
To uninstall the app, you can either:
- Right-click the app icon and select "Uninstall" (Chrome/Edge)
- Remove it from the Dock and Applications folder (Safari on Mac)
- Use your operating system's standard app removal process
