Importing Recipes from Websites

Import recipes directly from your favorite cooking websites by providing the URL.

Globally Shared Imports

Unlike platforms like Pinterest where multiple users can create their own pins for the same URL, our recipe imports are global. Each recipe URL has a unique record in our system.

This means if someone has already imported a recipe from a specific URL, you'll be taken to the existing record rather than creating a duplicate. This helps maintain a clean, organized database of recipes.

First Importer Responsibility

As the first person to import a recipe from a particular URL, you have an important role in how that recipe appears to all users. You'll be asked to select:

  • The most accurate and descriptive title
  • An appropriate description that captures the essence of the recipe
  • The best representative image from available options

Your selections will establish how this recipe appears to everyone who views it later, so choose thoughtfully!

Selection Process

During import, our web scraper searches the page for recipe information and may find multiple options for the title, description, and images. You'll be presented with these options and asked to select the most appropriate ones.

Take your time to review all options to ensure the recipe is correctly represented for all users. You must select from the provided options to maintain the integrity of the original recipe.

Remember, changing recipe titles or descriptions to something different from the original source could create copyright issues and misrepresent the recipe to other users. For example, renaming a "Swiss Mushroom Burger" as a "Post Workout Burger" would not accurately represent the original recipe.
