Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- 6 slices of cheddar cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced (optional)
- Ketchup and mustard (to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- While the grill is heating, divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.
- Season both sides of the patties generously with salt and pepper.
- Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip them over.
- Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty after flipping. Cook for another 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patty reaches your desired doneness (160°F for medium).
- While the burgers are cooking, toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a cooked patty on the bottom half of each bun. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, onion (if using), ketchup, and mustard. Cover with the top half of the bun.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious cheeseburgers!
